Frequently Asked Questions

A:

Somebody got really stressed at work, suffered a crippling burnout and eventually thought this website would be a good idea.

A:

This is a social media website, intended to be a community for people who are struggling with job stress, or stress in general. It is free and relies on the participation of people who visit.

The basic idea: You get upset at work, you come here and rant about your shitty day, then you forget about it while others rate or 'like' your rants. If other users had a similar experience, they can flag it too. You should be able to read other people's rants and get a good laugh - so many of us are feeling the same way as you are.

Note: We do want to put a positive spin on work life when possible. If you have good days, it feels good to write about that too.

The key: Follow our guidelines, and your identity is secret. Unlike Facebook and Twitter, where your employer may be watching, you can say what you really feel when you are here.

For more details, see the description of the concept for this website.

A:

Yes. In general, you may use whatever language you feel is appropriate.

This website is largely self-moderated. That is, other users have the ability to flag content as 'offensive', but it is the site operator that has the final say regarding the removal of content that is deemed to be too offensive. If enough users flag your statement as offensive, it may be removed without notice. But there is nothing stopping you from writing it in the first place.

A:

Any statements written about the following subjects will be removed and the author may be banned on repeated attempts:

  • serious threats of violence against another person,
  • discriminatory comments (eg. racist, religious, or sexist prejudice),
  • solicitation of business (spam, off-topic advertising, etc)

If you have any questions, please contact us.

A:

Yes, but only if you keep it secret. If you want to keep your visits secret, do not use your real name, do not identify yourself or your employer in any of your posts, and do not use any employer-owned devices (computer, laptop, mobile phone, etc) to visit this website. If you want to rant while you are at work, use your personal smartphone, as RateMyWorkday.com is formatted to display well on the small screen.

Caveat: The only piece of real information we have on you is your personal email address, and it is only used when you forget your password. As with any website, your IP address can be tracked. We do not share any of this information with anyone, unless directed to do so by law.

See our submission guidelines for more information.
